Clarion, IA - Friday, January 27th, 2023
From the moment they pulled in the wrong driveway (lol) to the moment they left, Sam and Brandon were two of the nicest people, organized and put on a performance 2nd to none. Very happy with the show they put on and the guests were very impressed as well. Employees were still talking about it yesterday at their start up meetings on how much fun they had and the interesting things they did which was outside of their norms.
- Iowa nice meets Nebraska nice.
- Exceptional musicians and comedians
- High energy
- Extremely professional duo that reads the audience and plays to their level of appreciation
We will be contacting you again for another event in the future for sure. Thank you for everything!

Fundraiser | Fun Pianos dueling pianos show
Carson, IA - Friday, November 11th, 2022
We were quite satisfied in the delivery of this event. The piano players, Jason and Mark, are extremely talented and have a great ability to engage the audience. They were on time for set up, and they were ready to play promptly at 7:30. The two hours went by very quickly, and they were successful in the collection of tips that were donated back to us.
As I looked around the room of 200 people at various points during the show, I saw a diverse group of attendees all with smiles. These attendees were all over 21, with several ranging in age from 70s to 80s. The program was exactly what we requested, and the songs and language were appropriate. This was the second year for this program. If we hire Fun Pianos for a 3rd year, we do need to have them sing "Chantilly Lace". That was one request I know they didn't pick up for the second year, and the only "complaint" I heard all night.
It was a great night to be in Carson, and we have Fun Pianos to thank.

The Fun Pianos have been incredible to work with over the past three years! After working with them to host a virtual event in 2020, we were so excited to be back with them in person this year! They were incredibly communicative and flexible when we have to postpone our event until the spring helped us throw an incredible party. They had everyone on their feet, dancing and celebrating, and helped us raise over $30,000 for our programs! We are so grateful for the part they play in our event, and we can’t wait to work with them again next year!

Thanks for checking in! We had Jason and Mark as our entertainers for our Platinum Ball. Everyone on our planning committee couldn’t be happier with their performance. They did an amazing job keeping the crowd entertained and helping with our fundraising efforts. They even went above and beyond to accommodate a table that felt they were too close to the speakers.
We ended up with a record fundraiser for our organization and appreciate Jason and Mark’s contribution to our event.
They communicated when getting close to arriving and was ready to go on time. They played the full duration of the contract and were definitely a crowd pleaser.
I would highly recommend these two.
Thanks for a fun and successful evening!

It filled my heart to witness how the two Fun Pianos Show performers brought the whole audience together in fun. Young and old; bubbly and timid all laughing and dancing; enjoying each other.
We had to shut ticket sales off; something we’ve never had to do, as we maxed out our venue at 225 people. People want you back!

We hired ‘Fun Pianos’ for a Leadership Kick Off event at our organization in January 2022. We’ve never had pianos at any events prior to date, but I assure you after they performed for us it won’t be the last! Our group was small, so Jason was the only player however you wouldn’t even know that had you been to dueling pianos before. Jason started off with a bang and kept our entire group engaged throughout the entire performance! Every… single…. Person was up dancing at one point! I would highly recommend Fun Pianos to anyone that is looking to add some spectacular fun to their event! You won’t regret it!

“The Fun Pianos guys did such a great job at our Christmas party that we brought them back again this year! Our group is mostly construction guys who are hard to engage…Fun Pianos was able to get our guys out of their chairs into a conga line, had them interacting and singing along. The Fun Pianos players work hard to put on an entertaining show and are worth every penny! I’m sure we’ll have them back a third time!”

Altoona, IA - Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021
Wow, it was soooo much fun. Jason engaged the audience constantly throughout the night. There were not many in the room at 7:30, so he waited about 15 minutes for them to filter in before he started the program. I would definitely have asked him to stay longer and paid the extra cost, but we had sound checks scheduled for keynote speakers for the next day. Our people would not leave, they wanted more. Next time, and there will definitely be a next time, I will contract for more time upfront and not schedule anything on the back end!
Thank you for your excellent service and delivery of a super fun evening.

Wow!!!
Sam,
I want to thank you again for our now 5 year partnership with our fundraising program. I’m sitting here at 11:05pm on the second night of our double feature to draft this e-mail although you’ll notice I didn’t send it until Monday. I wanted to be sure to write you from both the immediate impression from the shows and then after I’d slept on it.
In all transparency, I asked Matt and Amanda if there was something I should message you in our usual post-performance conversation to tell you how stellar your performers were. Matt suggested that I just focus on what actually happened and give some feedback to you as their boss who wasn’t able to be in attendance. So, without further adieu:
- Chemistry – I’ve had Matt for three shows and he never fails to impress. Without a doubt, his chemistry with Amanda (despite not performing together often, to my understanding) was top notch. Multiple people asked me how long they had performed together due to their ability to roll off each other, banter back and forth, play together, and trade off based upon what songs they new. I asked them following the second performance how often they played together and Matt replied that good professionals are able to create that chemistry kinda quick.
- Stage Presence – I convinced my mother to come to Quincy for this show. It’s the fourth time in nine years that she’s come up to visit me. She brought two of her brothers-in-law with her. I asked her what she thought of the show and she went on and on about Matt and how she loved the way he interacted with the crowed and got everybody engaged (even when she got tagged to stand and dance like a rocket city Rockette). She was pretty pissed that I took a video of it, but she said that it was one of the many highlights of her night. I then asked my uncles. My uncle, Tom, was enamored with Amanda. So I asked my uncle Rob who is more logical minded and he was very impressed with how both Amanda and Matt were on the same level of skill and could play back and forth. He was impressed with how quick Amanda could sing lyrics legibly i.e. Macarena and whatever that song is by M&M (I like the ones with the peanuts). I spoke with a few people in my Kiwanis club who attended. They had never seen a Dueling Piano show before. They were amazed that we host an event of this caliber with talent this impressive. I then asked the Bar Tender (who was dressed like a bee for Halloween) who sees lots of shows, weddings, bands, etc. She was very thankful she traded a shift to work this event instead of a wedding. She also made a killing at the bar thanks to the performers promoting people to refill their cup. In turn, I did my best to keep Matt and Amanda well hydrated…
- Show Format – This being the first year of having a double feature, I fully expected to hear the same set of music with some songs swapped in based upon the requests that Amanda and Matt solicited. I must say that the three of us (me, our CEO, and one of my employees) who attended both shows were entertained all six hours of the shows. The hits were replayed (Don’t Stop Believing, Bad Bad Leroy Brown, Great Balls of Fire, etc) but there were many more pop songs, classic rock songs, and many piano bar standby’s that I’d never heard before. I guess the way I’d summarize this bullet point is that I’m very pleased with the way Matt and Amanda were able to read the room to cater to the dancers, the toe tappers, the singers, the younger people, and the older folks.
- Singing & Performing – Amanda singing quick, Matt rocking the classics, the trade off between male and female singers, Matt’s ability to rile up the crowd, Amanda’s ability to engage the audience. Zero complaints here.
- Setup & Take Down – Pfft. I guess if I’m trying to give you feedback as a performance-review-style I’d have no complaints here. I do like that they set up between 1:00 and 1:30pm vs the last several shows were closer to 4:00pm. As the organizer/promoter it gave me more peace of mind and I didn’t sit there double and triple checking that I’d plugged in the right date and location.
- Three Hour Show vs Two Hour Show – I like the longer show. That may become our new thing.
As we’ve discussed over the years that I’ve been your customer, I’d recommend you to the ends of the earth and I pretty well think that rainbows flow out of your company’s rear. This year raised the bar once again. One day, I’d still like to have you (the man, the myth, the legend) come perform. Matt tells me that you’re stellar and he bases his stage-presence off of you (while Amanda smiled and nodded). However, I’d take the Matt/Amanda combo back any day.
I did ask if you would share my feedback with them, they assured me that you usually do send them positive and negative feedback. There’s nothing in this e-mail that I didn’t tell them to their face or wouldn’t have told them to their face if I’d thought of it before we split ways.

The first settlement at Loup City was made in the early 1870s.[7] Loup City was platted in 1873, and designated county seat.[8] Loup City was named after the Loup River.[9] During the Great Depression, Loup City was the site of a clash between radical leftists, influenced by Mother Bloor, who clashed with area residents in June 1934 following efforts by Communists to organize the workers of a poultry processing plant. The completion of Sherman Reservoir in 1963 added tourism to the area’s economic base.
For many years Loup City has proclaimed itself as the “Polish capital of Nebraska,” due to a significant Polish population (see Polonia). “Polish Days” is an annual community event held on the first weekend of June. The town’s Catholic church, Saint Josaphat’s, features stained glass windows commemorating area families, most with Polish names. The windows were salvaged from the previous St. Josaphat’s and date from the early 1900s.[13]
The early Loup City settlement has been depicted in the 2014 movie The Homesman.[14]

Fun Pianos duels out of summer into fall
Different areas of the country have different trends, something weâve noticed in 14+ years of serving the Fun Pianos! by 176 Keys Dueling Pianos show throughout the entire country.
One things that is consistent everywhere, from Phoenix to Nebraska to Illinois, Florida and everywhere else is that summers are slower than the rest of the year. This is not to say we have nothing to do: weddings, county fairs, and other community events happen every week. But while folks in Phoenix want to get out of the sweltering heat, People in Iowa and Minnesota want to hit the water, North Dakota friends want to get together while they have a few weeks of sunâŠthe events we play in the summer are generally the community and family minded events of weddings and festivals.
With fall comes the return of college events (including Texas and South Dakota in a couple weeks), corporate engagements and more of the full list of events weâve been playing for well over 10 years.
This weekend, weâre spreading our roster to Tucson, Chadron Nebraska, Beatrice Nebraska, Sedalia Missouri, and Reinbeck Iowa. After more shows in Canton Illinois and Rough Kentucky next week, we have a very busy week, with shows every day but Wednesday in Cincinnati, Rapid City, Kearney, Bloomington Indiana, Okoboji Iowa, west Texas, Madison Wisconsin and Woodland Hills (north of Los Angeles and Hollywood). With a small break when we have just one holiday weekend show (a wedding party in Plymouth Nebraska, outside of Lincoln), weâre back at it the next week, hitting Colorado, Kansas, Williston North Dakota and Omaha.
Summer is coming to close, and the âreal new yearâ is about to begin: School, Fall, FootballâŠand Fun Pianos!
We have FUN…. and it is obvious from this great review we received from Sioux City, IA!
Hello!Sorry I was out of the country on my honeymoon!! I thought the show was AMAZING!! It went much better than I had anticipated and was more than I had hoped for! My dad had been telling me he was not going to stay through the reception and he was dancing until midnight!! The guys were able to keep my grandmother as well as all of my young nieces and nephews involved throughout the piano show. I was told by many of my guests that this was one of the most fun receptions they had ever been to and the guests from the reception in the room next to ours kept stopping by my reception because the âmusic was better” and their DJ was âboring”! Thank You, Thank you, Thank you!! My husband, myself, our families and our guests had an absolutely amazing night! Thanks so much,Laurel Walsh
Dueling for a Few Laughs in Rapid City SD!
The show is called “Dueling Pianos,” but you won’t see these pianists competing for audience attention.
“It’s a bit of a misnomer,” said Sam Ferguson, owner and lead player of 176 Keys Fun Pianos. “It’s more about interaction with and response from the audience.”
Ferguson, Jefrey Taylor and Steven Ramirez will take their interactive song and comedy show to Rapid City at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The three will each bring their own specialty as performers to Rapid City, something Ferguson says is perfectly suited to keeping the show lively.
“Jefrey’s the perfect guy for a rock ‘n’ roll song, and a great singer,” Ferguson said. “My strength is humor, bringing comedy to the show. Steven’s a little bit of both. Plus he’s the youngest on staff, so he’s perfect for newer songs while Jeffrey and I cover older material.”
Ferguson said that the show usually has two performers on stage at a time, with the two working together as a musical-comedy team.
“It’s kind of an Abbott and Costello dynamic,” Ferguson said. “Neither performer is the sidekick, they’re equally important.”
Ferguson said that each member was adept at switching to whatever the moment called for, however.
“I am for anything that works in the moment,” Ferguson said. “My favorite way to entertain is making people laugh, but if the crowd wants to sing more than laugh, I’m happy to do that.”
Ferguson said that the key is reading the crowd and acting accordingly, playing whatever is going to get the best reaction out of the crowd in the moment.
Megan Whitman, executive director of Main Street Square, said that this is the second time they’ve invited this particular Dueling Pianos group, with Main Street Square previously hosting other groups with similar shows. Whitman said that it’s a perfect show for the whole family.
“We see a variety of ages of people coming downtown for this show, from young families to older adults,” Whitman said. “It’s a great chance to create memories for families in particular.”
Whitman said that it’s a great variety show, mixing comedy with Elton John or Billy Joel classics and contemporary hits.
“They also take special requests,” Whitman said. “If there’s a song you want to hear, they’ll probably be able to perform it.”
Ferguson said that they keep up with the biggest hits, as they change from month to month.
“Last year, ‘All About That Bass’ was our biggest song for a while, and then two months later it wasn’t,” Ferguson said. “Whereas something like ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ is never our most popular song in the set, but they’re consistently in the top 10 because people know them and don’t get tired of them.”
Ferguson said that he looked forward to interacting with the audience and getting them to be a part of the show.
“If we’re just on stage, there’s an imaginary wall between us and the audience,” Ferguson said. “We want to break through that wall, become more tangible and get a more personal connection.”

Happy Thanksgiving, from all of us at Fun Pianos by 176 Keys Dueling Pianos, to all of you!
What is Thanksgiving like at your house? Does the aroma of turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie hang in the air all day leading up to the dinner feast? Do you make multiple trips to the airport to pickup friends and family that have come to celebrate with you? Are you one of the brave souls that inhales dinner and runs out the door to be one of the first people through the doors of the Black Friday sales?…. (which are now starting on Thursday….. which means it isn’t technically a Black Friday sale….. but, you get the idea.)
Timeanddate.com has this to say about Thanksgiving:
Thanksgiving Day has been an annual holiday in the United States since 1863.  There are claims that the first Thanksgiving Day was held in the city of El Paso, Texas in 1598. Another early event was held in 1619 in the Virginia Colony. Many people trace the origins of the modern Thanksgiving Day to the harvest celebration that the Pilgrims held in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1621. However, their first true thanksgiving was in 1623, when they gave thanks for rain that ended a drought. These early thanksgivings took the form of a special church service, rather than a feast. In the second half of the 1600s, thanksgivings after the harvest became more common and started to become annual events. However, it was celebrated on different days in different communities and in some places there were more than one thanksgiving each year. George Washington, the first president of the United States, proclaimed the first national Thanksgiving Day in 1789.
We have so much to be thankful for here at Fun Pianos. We sincerely appreciate all of the referrals to your family and friends. We know that without great clients, we would not be able to continue doing what we love to do.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you to all the Veterans across our country, from Norfolk NE, to Haines City FL, to Scottsdale, AZ, to (I could go on and on.)
This Veteran’s Day, Fun Pianos dueling piano show would like to say “Thank You” to all of the men and women who have served or are serving this great country. We admire the sacrifices you have made. You have been willing to give everything, (and many have) for your country and all the people that call this place home, even though most of us are complete strangers to you. With respect and sincerity, for all you do, and all you have done….. Thank you.
Awwwwww…
Today’s post comes courtesy of Jefrey, who was half of our Rapid City team on Saturday:
“There are indelible moments that occur in your life, ones that leave you truly feeling blessed and appreciative of the gifts bestowed upon you!
Tonight was one of such moments.
This is [name withheld], amidst a crowd of 2,500 in an outdoor arena he stood on stage right by my piano, danced, sang and played a mean tambourine. When I got up to get the crowd involved or to wow them, he would come stand beside me and do exactly as I did with the biggest smile on his face!
I sent him home tonight with his new tambourine and he left me with a huge smile on my heart!”
Did your heart not just melt? Â I mean, really? Â It makes our heart to smile, too, Jefrey. Â Big, silly grin.
With a rattle of a tambourine on top.
Getting ready…
…for a good night in Rapid City, SD and Topeka, KS. Â Whether you are with us tonight or having other forms of FUN, we wish you a great night and a wonderful rest of your weekend.
Duluth
Anyone familiar with the great port on the Great Lake that is Superior will not be surprised that TripAdvisor  recommendations for what to do when you are in Duluth lean heavily toward things having to do with the beautiful surroundings:  The Apostle Islands, Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory, various state parks and trails.  Folks familiar with general history won’t be surprised that the recommendations include a railroad museum, a logging camp, and an iron ore museum,or that one of the local parks is named for Leif Erikson.  Folks really keen on history might know that when President Calvin Coolidge commemorated the 100th anniversary of the first Norwegian immigrants, he was in Minnesota, and mentioned Leif as the discoverer of North America.  (Sorry, Columbians.  You still get your day in October.)  Folks RIDICULOUSLY into their history and/or History Channel buffs may remember the great Kensington Rune Stones, found by a farmer on the other side of the state, claimed to be left behind by Erikson’s expedition.  Over the years, this has often ben rebuffed as a hoax.  However, current investigations give them a “genuine” rating, so that statue of Erikson in Duluth may just rest on a spot Erikson actually stepped upon.  Maybe.
ANYWAY, enough long tales. Â We were there. Â In the middle of August.
Because, you know, we get around.
